Flamin' Dragons Port Macquarie Incorporated is a club that caters for men and women of all ages, levels of fitness and degrees of competitiveness. We currently have 101 registered members ranging in age from 16 to 78 years of age. Some are breast cancer survivors, some are survivors of other cancers, some have different medical conditions, others are fit and healthy. For Flamin' Dragons it makes no difference. Everyone is welcome.
Flamin' Dragons have as many as eleven paddling sessions spread over four days each week. For new members the training day is Saturday. We meet at the boat ramp near the marina on Park Street. New members are encouraged to come along at 8:30am for the 9am paddling session. Being there a bit early is essential so we can give you some on-land instruction before getting into the boat.
Some frequently asked questions are...
Do I need to be able to swim? No. We provide life jackets for paddlers.
Do I need previous experience? No. Most of our paddlers are completely new to the sport when they join us.
Do I have to be fit? No. You'll become fit as a result of our training sessions.
What if I have arthritis or some other condition? Not a problem. We adjust your paddling style to suit you and no-one needs to paddle any harder than they are able to.
If I'm really competitive will I be catered for? Yes. We have some members who enjoy the social aspect of dragon boating and others who are mad keen on competition.
If you have any other questions send them via our Contact page.
Remember, the two rules of Flamin' paddling are
1. Look good
2. Have fun!
