The most important thing in dragon boating is not to win, but to take part, just as in life, it is not the triumph but the struggle. Be true to your fellow paddler. Paddle not for yourself but for your team. Work hard. Be strong. Expect no reward and reward will come." PADDLER'S OATH "I promise to take part in this regatta showing mutual respect and abiding by the rules that govern with the Dragon Spirit in heart and mind, for the glory of dragon boat and the honour of all teams. Flamin' Dragons Port Macquarie Inc. is a club that caters for men and women of all ages, levels of fitness and degrees of competitiveness. We currently have 90 registered members ranging in age from 12 to 78 - some are breast cancer survivors, some are survivors of other cancers, some have different medical conditions, and many others are fit and healthy. For Flamin' Dragons it makes no difference. Everyone is welcome. Flamin' Dragons run as many as ten paddling sessions spread over five days each week, including Juniors [12yrs+] on Wednesday afternoon. For new members the main training day is Saturday. We meet at the boat ramp near the Marina on Park Street. New members are encouraged to come along at 7:45am for the 8:15am paddling session. We adjust your paddling style to suit you and no-one needs to paddle any harder than they are able to. If I'm really competitive will I be catered for? Yes. We have some members who enjoy the social aspect of drag If you have any other questions send them via our Contact page. Remember, the two rules of Flamin' paddling are 1. Look good 2. Have fun! |
